Hall of Fame
Welcome to the Northern Irelands, ‘ Trials Hall of Fame’!
In this ‘Blog’ we will take a look at the riders that ‘cut their teeth’ @ the Leadmines & as a result competed at the highest levels of the sport of motorcycle Trials.
No1. Nowhere else to start, other than with the true Legend of Trials himself Mr Sammy Miller MBE! As Sam says
“I trained and learnt my skill at the Leadmines and went on to be European and 11 times British Champion – an all-time record. Also I was awarded an MBE by the Queen. The Hurst Cup (formally a time & observation event) and the Walter Rusk Trials (Boxingday) were all held at the Lead Mines and I managed to win 18 Walter Rusk Trophies in succession and 12 Hurst Cup Trials when all the famous British manufacturers were sending their ‘works’ teams to compete in the Hurst Cup” Sammy is surely the G.O.A.T (Greatest Of All Time). Sammy’s storey and rise to success is incredible, his mind-set was in essence a very pure will to win, he was in pursuit of excellence & his legacy would suggest that Samuel Hamilton Miller has achieved just that.
